Toronto - December 30, 2014 - Though they might not currently be in the Sabres’ lineup, it’s always good to see the names on their prospect list doing well.

That’s especially true when it comes to the top prospect in the Sabres’ system and the second overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, Sam Reinhart.

Reinhart is currently playing for Team Canada in the World Junior Championships and was looking great as he scored twice to help lift Team Canada past Finland 4-1 on Monday night. He opened the scoring at 5:32 of the first period and would score the eventual game-winner at 13:34 of the second period, giving Canada the 2-0 lead.

Through three games in the tournament, Reinhart is tied for second on the team in scoring with five points and is tied for the lead in goals with two. His line, also consisting of Max Domi (Arizona prospect) and Anthony Duclair (New York Rangers prospect) has been clicking, with the trio accounting for six goals and 14 points through three games.

Canada will finish up its preliminary round schedule with a matchup against Team USA on New Year’s Eve. The talk of that game will no doubt revolve around what should be the top two picks in the 2015 NHL Draft: Team Canada’s Connor McDavid and Team USA’s Jack Eichel. McDavid has a goal and two assists so far while Eichel has a goal and an assist as well as a shootout goal.
