Wilkes-Barre - March 20, 2015 -

The WBS Penguins traveled to Syracuse tonight to take on the Syracuse Crunch, Syracuse sitting in first place of the Northeast Division and WBS sitting in second place of the East Division tonight's game should have been and was a great match up. WBS and Syracuse both trading shots for the first period both sides amounting 10 SOG's. Matt Murray coming up with some nice saves for WBS.

The Penguins would get a chance late in the first period as Joey Mormina took a slashing penalty putting the WBS Penguins on a late power play that would spill over into the second period but would not generate any points for the Penguins.

Syracuse would be the first to get on board with a nice goal by Yanni Gourde just past the eight minute mark of the second period. WBS would give Syracuse a glorious chance to pull out a two goal lead just seconds after the Gourde goal as Barry Goers would sit for interference, but the WBS PK would hold it's ground keeping it a one goal game.

One penalty each and one power play each after 40 minutes of play and looking at 17 SOG each heading off the ice for the second intermission the WBS Penguins were trailing the Syracuse Crunch 1-0.

Heading into the third period you just had that feeling that things were going to turn around for WBS. LeBlond and Dotchin got into a little shoving match after PL3 shot the puck after being whistled offside not much coming out of it but both would sit in the bin making it 4x4 hockey. This gave the Pens some open ice to work with, and Derrick Pouliot made it work a nice pass to Tom Kostopoulos who found his way through three Crunch players to the goal to make it 1-1.

Thats is where regulation would end everything even at one each forcing tonight's game into OT with both sides earning a point. Unfortunately the it would be the Crunch who would come out of the OT with the second point and the win on the night but all in all this wasn't a bad game for WBS.
