Wilkes-Barre - April 30, 2015 -

The WBS Penguins looking at a possible sweep with a win tonight headed to Syracuse to face the Crunch. Syracuse looking at a possible elimination were going to be bringing it hard.

Things started out fast tonight and seemed to keep the momentum,WBS went on the penalty kill as Chorney sat for Cross Checking early in the period, 3/4 of the way through Tom Kuhnhackl intercepted a bad pass and was off to the races Koekoek would take a tripping penalty nullifying the Crunches power play and giving WBS an abbreviated power play.

Scott Wilson scores for WBS on the power play, a nice one timer off a feed from Conor Sheary makes it one to none Penguins.  The Crunch weren't going to lay down yet, knowing they were facing elimination Syracuse fought back scoring an extra effort goal just nine minutes later Yani Gourde got the tally.

Ashton and McNeill do a nice two step at the end of the first setting the tone for the second both sides heading off all knotted up at one each.

Hitting the ice for the start of the second WBS wastes no time Conor Sheary comes down the ice virtually untouched and wrists one past Gudlevskis to put the Pens up 2-1 just 2:39 in.

That would be it for the second for scoring but there was plenty of action. Both sides Getting chances but heading off the ice for the second intermission the WBS Penguins leading 2-1.

WBS would prove to have a lethal power play tonight as Conor Sheary sinks the first power play goal of the third period making it 3-1 WBS. Then Syracuse gets whistled for too many men putting the WBS Penguins right back in the power play. Derrick Pouliot smokes one past Gudlevskis making it 4-1 WBS.

The Crunch would tally a pinball goal as it bounced off a Penguin making it 4-2 with still a lot of hockey to play in the third, WBS burns its timeout to settle things down.

Andrew Ebbett would put a bow on tonight's game for the WBS Penguins as he gets the empty net goal making it 5-2 with just seconds left in regulation.

The WBS penguins now move on to round two of the Calder Cup Playoffs but won't know who until Hartford and Providence square off for game five.
