Wilkes-Barre - May 8, 2015 -

The WBS Penguins were looking for a little pay back tonight as they took on the Manchester Monarchs in game 2 of round 2  in the Calder Cup Playoffs, the Manchester Monarchs are leading the series 1-0 coming into tonight and looking to make it a clean 2-0 on home ice heading to WBS for games 3, 4 and 5 if needed.

Oskar Sundqvyst made his North American AHL Debut tonight against the Manchester Monarchs for game two of round 2 in the Calder Cup Playoffs. It seemed to be a tighter game tonight than last night Penguins rising to the occasion, but the Monarchs Brian O'Neill would put his team out in front first  for the second time in two days.

WBS Penguins getting a few chances even a power play late in the first but just couldn't break the silence for the first period but would have 44 seconds of carryover to start the second. According to a tweet by JB "Sundqvyst went down  awkwardly on a hit in front of the WBS bench very early in the first. 1st or 2nd shift. Don't think I've seen him since." not a good thing for the Penguins.

The WBS Penguins do nothing with the 44 second man advantage to start the second period, but on a good note OB announced that Sundqvist was back on the ice for WBS. Jeff Schultz clears the puck over the glass putting WBS on the first power play of the second giving them the chance they could use. Manchester's Schultz clears the puck over the glass putting WBS on the power play  Conor Sheary squeaks one past Berube, after review they say good goal all even at one each.

Nine second later Manchester pulls into the lead again scoring their second of the game, but not to be out done just 14 seconds later Dominik Uher evens it up at two each, talk about a ping pong match. After two period recorded in the books tonight the WBS Penguins were back where they were at the beginning of the second trailing by one but this time the score was 3-2 Monarchs.

Penguins open the third seeming to have a little skip in their step picking up the tempo just a bit, Tom Kostopoulos puts one on net it gets past Berube but goes wide. Derrick Pouliot would get whistled for a cross check putting th Penguins down a man at a bad time and gues what, the Monarchs take full advantage making it a two goal game now leading the Penguins 4-2.

WBS would get two glorious chances in the third period on the power play but would not be able to do anything with them. Manchester killing the second power play was a spirit killer with under 4 minutes to play the Penguins were looking at falling behind 2-0 in the series WBS pulled Matt Murray with just under three minutes left in regulation but it just wasn't in the cards for WBS tonight. Manchester would get the empty net goal with 2:03 left in the game making it a 5-2 win for the Monarchs.

Now the Penguins will head to home ice Saturday, Monday and Tuesday if needed, if ytou don't have your tickets you will want to get them as I said before playoff hockey is here and you have to experience it to appreciate or understand it. Get your tickets and come on out and support your team in their quest for the Calder Cup, remember it's  White Out so wear your white.
