Pittsburgh - February 25, 2015 - The Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday acquired forward Daniel Winnik from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Zach Sill, a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2016 draft.

Winnik, 29 has seven goals, 25 points and a plus-15 rating in 58 games with the Maple Leafs. Among forwards to play more than 30 games for the Maple Leafs, Winnik was second in even-strength shot-attempts percentage (SAT%) at 48.72, but first in SAT% in close games at 51.21.

An eight-year veteran, Winnik has 56 goals and 175 points in 548 games with the Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks and Maple Leafs. He can become an unrestricted free agent after the season.

The trade is the second made by the Maple Leafs in the past 10 days; on Feb. 15 defenseman Cody Franson and forward Mike Santorelli were traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Olli Jokinen, forward prospect Brendan Leipsic and a 2015 first-round draft pick.

Sill, 26, has three points and a minus-3 rating in 42 games this season. It's the first time in six professional seasons that he's spent the entire season in the NHL.

In 62 NHL games in parts of two seasons, Sill has one goal, two assists and a minus-7 rating.
