Interest in Leafs, Sens game pre-empted by The Mentalist

In the latest edition of the “Battle of Ontario”, two .500 clubs going in different directions took to the ice in Ottawa. Taking a 3-0 lead into the dressing room after one period, the Senators appear to be in good shape. That was enough for me.... I’m switched to watch The Mentalist with the Missus.
Windsor - January 22, 2015 - In the latest edition of the “Battle of Ontario”, two .500 clubs going in different directions took to the ice in Ottawa. In their last ten games, the Senators are a very respectable 4-4-2, while
the hapless (swore I’d never use that word to describe my team but there it is) Leafs are 2-8-0,
scoring only twice in their last five games. Interim coach Peter Horachek shuffled what’s left of
his line combinations and came with Nazem Kadri centering the top line between Phil Kessel
and James van Riemsdyk. It didn’t take long for Phil the Thrill to get an early scoring chance, as
he took advantage of an Ottawa turnover and came in on a breakaway, only to be denied by
Sens goalie Craig Anderson.
Seconds later, Mike Hoffman scored to put the Sens up 1-0. Then it was Erik Karlsson, on a
perfect feed from Hoffman to make it 2-0. Shortly thereafter, Leafs captain slew-footed Milan
Michalek, and when Michalek retaliated, the two dropped the gloves.
The Senators scored again with less than a minute to go in the first, when Mika Zibanejad beat
Leafs starter James Reimer on a delayed penalty call.
Taking a 3-0 lead into the dressing room after one period, the Senators appear to be in good
shape. The Leafs? Not so much. Here’s hoping they can make a comeback and win this one.
But I doubt it. And I won’t know if they did or not until later. I’m going to watch The Mentalist
with the Missus. Because for tonight, I’m done watching the Leafs.
