In what has been a season of not so flattering headlines for the Toronto Maple Leafs, there is some pretty neat news coming out of the provincial capital today. David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Saturday that the hockey club has signed Garrett Gamble to a one-day contract.
Stoney Point - March 28, 2015 - In what has been a season of not so flattering headlines for the Toronto Maple Leafs, there is some pretty neat news coming out of the provincial capital today. David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Saturday that the hockey club has signed Garrett Gamble to a one-day contract.
Gamble is an 11 year old from Duck Lake, Saskatchewan and he is a huge Leafs fan. He sites his favourite players as Tyler Bozak, Dion Phaneuf and Phil Kessel.
Garret suffers from a disease called Morquio Syndrome, that is is caused by an absence, or malfunctioning of enzymes required to breakdown molecules that help build bone, cartilage, tendons, corneas, skin and connective tissue.
Garrett’s dream has always been to drop the puck at a Maple Leaf game and meet some of the players. Garrett has long dreamt of being able to take his Mom, Dad and three sisters to Toronto to see his favourite team play live. Today, the Toronto Maple Leafs will grant him that opportunity as they talk on the Ottawa Senators at the ACC.
Garrett Gamble has been added to the team’s roster and the team’s Twitter feed is suggesting that Bozak will change jersey numbers to accommodate Gamble. (see below)
