NFL versus CFL debate - The two cannot be compared
Well football is back (yeah) and as usual the debate about which is better NFL or CFL. I don't think they can be compared. They are two totally different games, the only thing similar is the shape of the ball. The CFL must use a totally different athlete than the NFL but the debate is always fun.

Cornwall - Aug. 21, 2011 - Well football is back (yeah) and as usual the debate about which is better NFL or CFL. I don't think they can be compared. They are two totally different games, the only thing similar is the shape of the ball. In Canada the field is a lot bigger - only three downs and 12 men versus 11 in the United States - but the major difference in my mind is the players in motion which is huge because it creates the need for the defence to rotate and mistakes can happen. All of this and more makes it necessary to use a totally different athlete than the NFL but the debate is always fun.

I see some coaches have been moved already and as usual the talking heads will be screaming for teams to make changes. Wait until hockey gets back and it will get worse. I get a kick out of abuse goaltenders take with a weak goal. That is like saying Roy Halliday is a bum, if he gives up a home run - really!! Do these folks think there is a player supermarket somewhere allowing the GM to say "I will be home shortly dear, I am going down to the store to pick up a player."

  • When will the local newspaper stop whining about CBC in the columns, etc? Give it a rest it is getting really old!

  • With all the talk about the economy, we are constantly hearing about what the economists are saying and predicting. That is a little scary these people keep trying to change an art into a science. If you lined up 100 of them shoulder-to-shoulder you would end up with 110 opinions. The politicians seem to take their comments as gospel.

    RANTS

The fuss about the interview by Krista Erickson of Margie Gillis some weeks ago on Sun News Network just doesn't seem to want to go away.

When it first started - I checked it out. I don't believe the network violated codes or guidelines nor was it an ambush. It was however tacky and cheap. How could that subject get 20 minutes of air time when almost no other subject (besides breaking news) gets the same time? My guess is they felt the controversy coming and let it roll. QMI has a built in podium and were ready to use it.

This is not a left-right issue. How come when someone disagrees with them, it is deemed to be an attack from the left?

I dont feel particularly sorry for Ms. Gillis either. If you agree to show up for an interview on the subject - what did you think was going to happen? Some kind of endorsement? That is naive. It is the nature of the real world.
