WESPY Awards recognize the accomplishments of  Windsor area athletes
Earlier this month the WESPY Award banquet was held. Hosted by long time Windsor boosters Dominic Pappa and Kara Ro at the Caboto Club, the banquet recognized the accomplishments of Windsor area athletes. Thirty five awards were presented during the evening., and those in attendance were treated to an outstanding (two standing ovations) 40 minute keynote speech by Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Ken Dryden.

Windsor - April 26, 2013 - Earlier this month the WESPY Award banquet was held. Hosted by long time Windsor boosters Dominic Pappa and Kara Ro at the Caboto Club, the banquet recognized the accomplishments of Windsor area athletes. Thirty five awards were presented during the evening., and those in attendance were treated to an outstanding (two standing ovations) 40 minute keynote speech by Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Ken Dryden.

Here is a partial list of the awards that were presented that Tuesday night.

Female Knobby Knudsen Volunteer of the Year - Angela Calamita

Male Knobby Knudsen Volunteer of the Year - Dennis Palamides

Female Legacy Award - Linda Bourdeau

Male Legacy Award - Bob Turner

Mickey Renaud Captain’s Award (Leadership) - Matt Beaudoin, LaSalle Vipers

Coach of the Year - Dave Cooper, St. Clair College

Team of the Year - Windsor Lancers Women’s Basketball

Executive of the Year - Dean Lapierre, Windsor Minor Hockey

Female Athlete of the Year - Melissa Bishop,Windsor Alumni

Male Athlete of the Year - Brandon McBride, W.F. Herman SS/Windsor Legion

Hockey - Male- Kerby Rychel, Windsor Spitfires

Hockey - Female - Candace Rapchak, Windsor Lancers

Horseman - Ron Adams

Figure Skating - Brianna Clarkson
