Edmonton - July 30, 2012 - Thousands of smiling young faces will crowd Bourbon Street in West Edmonton Mall on Tuesday, July 31 as FC Edmonton partners up with Delux Burger Bar to raise money for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

FC Edmonton’s Paul Hamilton has been chosen as Delux Burger Bar’s Celebrity Chef for the month of August and his mouth-watering, ball-kicking burger creation will be available at both Delux locations (Crestwood and West Edmonton Mall).

One dollar from every burger sold in August goes directly to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Whenever the Stollery is involved I am more than happy to help however I can,” Hamilton said. “My goal is to raise $1,000 so I encourage everyone to head to Delux Burger Bar and order the Hammy Burger as much as they can this month.”

Delux has been running the monthly promotion for years and have raised thousands of dollars for charitable organizations throughout the region.

“What started out as an opportunity to allow our guests to create new burgers has evolved into a wonderful opportunity to give back to our community and support so many local charities over the past 12 months,” said Paul Shufelt, corporate chef at Delux. “We feel fortunate to work alongside Paul Hamilton, and FC Edmonton, to be able to contribute to the Stollery, which is such a worthwhile charity that is so relied upon.”

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for specialized equipment, sub-specialty medical education to train the best of the best, research to pave the way to the discovery of new treatments or cures for child health issues, and specialized programs that improve patient and family outcomes at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

“There are more than 1.7 million children depending on the Stollery Children’s Hospital, which is more than any other children’s hospital in Canada. The need is great, but with the support of a caring community we have an amazing centre of excellence there for them when they need it most," said Sandy Chipchar, interim president & CEO, Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation. "A special thank you to Delux Burger Bar and FC Edmonton for their support through the sale of the Hammy Burger as part of August Celebrity Chef at Delux. Thanks to donors like these, we’re sending more kids home to their families each year.”

Come out to Bourbon Street in the West Edmonton Mall on Tuesday, July 31 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. to meet the team and get your Hammy Burger, available all month.
