Edmonton - March 27, 2012 - Edmonton Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini announced Tuesday afternoon, that star forward Taylor Hall will be shutdown early for the second consecutive season. While Hall had missed the last five games with concussion like symptoms after being knocked out of action by Calgary Flames defenceman Cory Sarich on March 16th, Tambellni said the former first overall selection will undergo season ending shoulder surgery.

"Recovery time will be between five and six months, so our hope is that Taylor will be ready for the start of next season", said Tambellini. In a some what curious move, it seems odd that Edmonton waited until now to have the youngster go under the knife.

The idea that they "hope" he will be ready for training camp is a little staggering. If the shoulder was an issue, why not get it done sooner? Seems ridiculous if you ask me but that's just my opinion.

Apparently, Hall says he first hurt the shoulder "four years ago" and that it has been bothering him for much of the season. The talented youngster's second NHL season comes to an end having scored twenty-seven goals and putting up fifty-three points in sixty-one games.
