Colts lose second straight
The Cornwall Colts had a weekend to forget as they lost 6-1 at home to Ottawa on Saturday and 4-3 to the Gloucester Rangers on Sunday.

Cornwall - Jan. 30, 2011 - It was a weekend to forget for the Cornwall Colts.

A day after losing 6-1 to the Ottawa Junior Senators on home ice, the league-leading Colts travelled to Gloucester on Sunday looking to right the ship, but they faced a similar fate, falling 4-3 to the Rangers.

The Colts actually carried a 3-1 lead into the third period, but watched it evaporate thanks in large part to Rangers sniper Andrew Creppin, who notched a pair of goals including the game-winner.

Nathan Pancel and Devin Cobbold had the other goals for Gloucester, while Drew Henry, Jacob Laliberte and Michael Rowbotham connected for the Colts.

Penalties once again proved to be a problem for the Colts as they took two ill-timed penalties in the third period which the Rangers capitalized on.

With the loss, Cornwall now sits just three points ahead of Pembroke in the league standings with a 41-9-1-0 record (83 points).

The Colts will be back in action on Thursday when the Kemptville 73s visit the Cornwall Civic Complex (7:30 p.m.).

In other league action Sunday, Kemptville beat Hawkesbury 3-2, Ottawa downed Carleton Place 3-2,Smiths Falls edged Cumberland 4-3, Pembroke skated past Kanata 7-2 and Brockville thumped Nepean 10-4.
