Cornwall Island - Feb. 28, 2011 - Former Cornwall Comet Martin Beaulne was the hero for the Warriors on Sunday night, scoring the game-winning goal with less than three minutes to play to help lead Akwesasne past Thousand Islands by a score of 5-4.

With the win, the Warriors now lead the Privateers 2-1 in the Federal Hockey League's North Division final. Game 4 will be played on Friday night in Alexandria Bay, while Game 5 (if necessary) will be played on Saturday night on Cornwall Island.

Forward Dan Tessier lead the way for Akwesasne on Sunday night, scoring two goals and adding an assist.

The two teams traded goals in the opening period, with Miguel Delisle and Ryan Pearson scoring for their respective squads.

Akwesasne opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the second period as Tessier tallied his first of the night. Pearson and Adam McAllister both scored for the Privateers before the end of the second to put Thousand Islands ahead 3-2 going into third period. Tyler Fernandez put the Privateers up 4-2 at the 4:21 mark of the third period.

The Warriors then kickstarted the comeback as Ahmed Mahfouz set up Delisle on the powerplay to cut the lead to 4-3. Just one minute later, Tessier stole the puck from Marcus Pryde to tie the game up.

Then, in dramatic fashion, Martin Beaulne took the puck end to end through all the Privateers and scored the game winning goal with three minutes left in the game.

The Privateers outshot the Warriors 39-35.
