Strong goaltending silences Colts
Kanata netminder Scott Shackell made 61 saves as the Stallions defeated the Colts 3-1 on Friday night.

Cornwall - Mar. 11, 2011 - The Cornwall Colts faced their first big playoff hurdle on Friday night in the form of a red hot goaltender.

Kanata netminder Scott Shackell turned aside 61 shots on Friday night to help lead his team past the Colts by a score of 3-1 at the Kanata Recreational Complex. With the win, the Stallions have evened up their first round playoff series with the Colts at 1-1. Game 3 is Sunday night at the Cornwall Civic Complex.

Shackell turned in an exceptional performance for the Stallions, and he was less than a minute away from securing the shutout when Tylor Spink managed to get a puck past him.

The Colts had numerous scoring chances - and several power play opportunities - but they simply couldn't find a way to get the puck past Shackell.

Kyle Rankin got the Stallions on the board late in the first period, while Phillip Nasca added two more in the second and third periods.
