Summer Company helps students turn business ideas into reality
Seven students from Cornwall and S, D and G are turning their business ideas into reality this summer through the Summer Company program. Summer Company is a program sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and administered by the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre.

Cornwall - Jul. 1, 2011 - Seven students from Cornwall and S, D and G are turning their business ideas into reality this summer through the Summer Company program.

Summer Company is a program sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and administered by the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre. The program encourages students to start and run their own business. The young adults were selected to participate in the program after completing detailed business plans. In return, the participants will receive up to $3,000 in start-up funding assistance along with hands-on coaching and mentoring from local business leaders.

“This program provides a great opportunity for the participants to develop entrepreneurial skills while making money at the same time,” said Candy Pollard, Business Consultant with the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre. “Through Summer Company, we are helping to train the business leaders of tomorrow.”

This year’s Summer Company participants include:

Kaitlyn Alguire - KD’s Kupboard
KD’s Kupboard is a retail stand at the Cornwall Farmers’ Market in Downtown Cornwall selling gourmet foods from various suppliers including Glengarry Fine Cheese, Levac Apiaries, Daelia’s Biscuits, Mrs. McGarrigles mustards, County Crackers, Steward Bags and many more. www.kdkupboard.com

Jordan Ingola - ACE Tutoring Services
ACE Tutoring Services provides private tutoring services in all subject areas to students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. French lessons are also offered to anyone looking to learn a new language or improve on their skills. www.acetutoringservices.yolasite.com

Summer Company provides young people between the ages of 15 and 29 with an opportunity to run their own summer business. With hands-on business coaching, mentoring from local business leaders and up to $3,000 in financing, Summer Company helps turn ambitious students into entrepreneurs.

Summer Company is administered in Cornwall, S, D and G and Akwesasne by the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
