Cornwall - Mar. 8, 2011 - Tragedy struck today as a large fire broke out in the Barn Apartments on Gretchen Court in Cornwall.
Smoke was seen coming from the building around 1:30 p.m. and the Cornwall Fire Department was on scene soon after. A large crowd assembled around the area to witness the blaze.
Built in 1890, the structure was originally a barn before eventually being converted into a series of apartments and condos.
The fire is the third major blaze in Cornwall in recent months, following the fire at the Canada Cotton Mill in October and the blaze which destroyed the former Truffles Burger Bar at Pitt and Second streets in December.
