Cornwall - Feb. 4, 2012 - Josh Welsh, a member of the Cornwall Youth Advisory Committee, shares his experience with Cornwall City Councilor Maurice Dupelle during Local Government Week.
Welsh says, "Partaking in this event was quite an experience. At 8:00 a.m., Councillor Dupelle picked me up from home and we went to la centre de sante communautaire de l'Estrie for our first meeting of Social Development Council where representatives for different agencies would meet. Councillor Bernadette Clement was present. Afterwards, we headed over to the Benson Centre where Lorne Taillon gave us a tour of the facility (and I must point out that it reminded me of an airport terminal!). Then, we headed to City Hall to pick up a few things and made our way to Glen Stor Dun Loge for an audit meeting and tour of the facility there as well. Once we finished, we made our way back to City Hall for lunch, while Councillor Dupelle was present for his audit meeting. We had yet again another audit meeting for the Municipal Accessability Advisory Committee. Lastly, Councillor Dupelle had me tag along to look into complaints of fellow citizens. We finished the day off with that. It really shows what the 'day in the life of a Councillor' is like. All in all, it was a really good day, and an interesting one indeed."
