Cornwall - November 18, 2011 - The Agape Centre, TVCOGECO and the Cornwall Firefighters Association want children waking up to find special gifts under their tree.

On Friday, December 2nd from 5 pm to 7 pm, Cornwallites are invited to join us for a special holiday celebration during a LIVE TVCOGECO television event on the plaza in front of the City of Cornwall Municipal Building at 340 Pitt Street. Interviews with community leaders, preview performance of Seussical JR, hot chocolate, chili and live entertainment will also be on the menu! The broadcast will be co-hosted by TVCOGECO’s Ron Begg and Agapè’s volunteer coordinator Carilyne who says, “By participating in the Agapè’s Holiday Hope Drive, Santa won’t have to miss any houses on Christmas Eve.”

Volunteers will be on site to collect toy and cash donations to help brighten a child’s holiday season. They will also be selling raffle tickets for 4 tickets to Seussical JR. The proceeds from the raffle tickets go straight to purchasing toys for children in need. As for the toys, they will be added to a much larger donation drive. “The toys we receive will be handed out to children in need during our holiday basket distribution on Dec 20th at the Cornwall Armories,” says Alyssa Blais, Executive Director of the Agapè Centre.

“As a child, I was very lucky during Christmas,” she says. “It’s very sad that so many children have to hear about the great Christmas their friends experience and they unfortunately don’t have the same privilege.”

The Agapè Centre guarantees that every cash donation will be put towards the shopping, wrapping and purchase of a special holiday gift for a needy child in Cornwall. Come share in the spirit of the holiday season by coming out to our Agapè’s Holiday Hope Drive and make a toy donation.
