Windsor - Mar. 4, 2020:
C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-I-O-N Time – Come On! Our Three-Year Milestone Celebration of the Soul Focus Project is set for March 5 at J.P. Wisers from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This project has helped change – and save lives.

“We know that there can be no physical health without mental health”, says CMHA-WECB CEO Claudia den Boer. “So now we take time to celebrate the accomplishments of our donors, Ambassadors, volunteers and supporters.”

These people will be recognized at the “Soleful Celebration” event where exciting details about phase two of the Sole Focus Project: “On the Frontlines” will also be shared.

“The Sole Focus Project was the right campaign at the right time”, says den Boer. “We have been overwhelmed by the support of the Windsor-Essex community. This support demonstrates unequivocally that mental health is breaking the stigma barrier.

We are excited to share highlights from the campaign and thank donors and volunteers who have played a pivotal role in the success of the campaign.”

Three years ago the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB) launched the Sole Focus Project to enlist, engage and educate the Windsor-Essex community about mental health and addictions.

The Sole Focus Project campaign sought to raise awareness about mental health and the need for funds to support mental health awareness, education and training, an area not fully funded by the government. Funds raised also support an endowment fund to provide sustainability to the mental health education and training portfolio. The original fundraising goal of $500,000 over 3 years was achieved in less than one year. Thus, the goal was extended to $1.5 million, ultimately meaning more mental health outreach for the community.

The need for outreach continues to grow – hence the ongoing need for fundraising continues.

The CMHA-WECB will continue promoting the campaign, seeking new ambassadors, partners and donors, and looks forward to repeating successful events, including Wake Up Speak Up (formerly Breakfast of Champions), the Detroit Tigers Canadian Fan Game Night and Rock Your Sole: The Comeback Tour.
