Windsor - Mar. 11, 2020:
Farah El-Hajj, announced her candidacy for the Ward 7 by-election at Windsor’s City Hall.

“Having worked in the financial sector for nearly three years as a personal banker assisting many Ward 7 residents and businesses where I had the opportunity to learn of the many concerns and issues that affect residents in Forest Glade and East Riverside. For example: Protecting our homes from flooding; protecting our community’s liveability, enhancing services and infrastructure such as: pushing for the renewal of the Forest Glade Library; making sure the Blue Heron bridge is maintained; protecting and expanding the Little River Corridor of park land and ensuring that all the parks in the ward are enhanced. Implementing traffic calming measures to make sure that when each resident goes to school, work or even for a walk they make it home safely. We need to work together to make sure that the growth in the ward benefits everyone,” Farah stated.

Born and raised in Windsor, Farah attended Dougall Public School, Kennedy High School and completed Political Science degree at the University of Windsor.

“For the last couple years I’ve had the opportunity and privilege to advocate and help constituents resolve every day issues on the federal and provincial level. As part of working for federal and provincial members of parliament I obtained the knowledge and ability to help bring results to constituents which has been satisfying and instilled in me that a commitment to public service was the right choice.

Listening to constituents and learning how to develop public policy to address citizen concerns and using the tools of advocacy and working with residents to affect change is the meaningful result of our democracy. It makes you want to do more of it. I want to continue this work by being elected as the council woman for Ward 7 to ensure residents continue to get the services they need and the improvements they require while ensuring that their taxes are spent on their priorities in an accountable, transparent and responsible way.

It would be my honour and privilege to work alongside Ward 7 residents to help make one of the fastest growing Wards the best place to work, raise your families and enjoy a beautiful part of our city. I will be door knocking and coming to a neighbourhood near you, to listen, to understand and hopefully earn your support,” Farah said.
