Pigskin Picks - Stafford, Lions to upset Packers on Thanksgiving
Pigskin Picks went 4 for 6 last week (don't ask why I went with an extra game - I do not know myself), leaving my season average just shy of 80%. Detriot has a chance for the upset, provided that they can get a few breaks and keep the pace with GB's league best offence. Look for a high scoring affair in Detroit.

Antigonish - November 24, 2011 - Pigskin Picks went 4 for 6 last week (don't ask why I went with an extra game - I do not know myself), leaving my season average just shy of 80%. There are a number of great matches this week, with 3 Thursday Thanksgiving games to kick things off. On to the picks:

Miami at Dallas: Miami has, quiet simply, played great ball the past 3 weeks, and if heart was a measurable, have outshone each of their opponent by a substantial margin, especially considering all of the doom and gloom that came with their poor start. Dallas, on the other hand, has been very inconsistent this year, with alternate appearances by Good Tony Romo and bad Tony Romo. As well as Miami has played, however, Dallas is a much better team, and has been rolling lately. Dallas wins.

Carolina at Indy -
The Colts look to be historically bad, putting up virtually no resistance vs the run, and little better vs the pass with a secondary decimated by injuries and weak talent. A win by Carolina will remove them from the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, and almost guarantee that Indy picks 1st overall in the 2012 draft. That aside, QB Cam Newton has shown he is a game changing talent...and Curtis Painter has shown he is not. Panthers win.

Lock of the Week -
Pittsburgh @ KC. The Chiefs picked up Kyle Orton on waivers, but Tyler Palko will start. This one is a giant mismatch from the onset, and the Steelers are way too good a team not to take advantage of a hobbled opponent. Pitt wins.

Buffalo at Jets -
Both teams are on a bit of a slide, with the Jets having lost a shocker to Tebow and the Broncos, and the Bills reeling after losing 3 strait and their best player in RB Fred Jackson. While backup RB CJ Spiller was a high pick and has some talent, he has not shown to date the ability to run between the tackles, a job that is extremely tough vs the Jets D. The Jets will be looking to bounce back in a big way, and the Bills, who started off the season so well, could be in big trouble here. Jets win.

Philly at New England -
The Patriots continue to struggle in the secondary and with the running game, although a Tom Brady led team at home is always tough. The Eagles are still a tough, talented team, but one that cannot seem to put it all together, and with star QB Mike Vick and WR Jeremy MacLin still hurting with broken ribs and shoulder/hamstring issues respectively, look for the Patriots to continue their dominance at home. Pats win!

UPSET of the WEEK -
Picking a 6th game felt so good, I decided to do it again! Green Bay @ Detroit - Common sense says GB runs the table this year, and wins it all in a perfect season. If you are looking for common sense, however, you have come to the wrong place! Whiel GB is great, they do struggle to move the ball on the ground. This will be a shootout, with QB Matthew Stafford and WR Calvin Johnson looking to prove that they belong in the same conversation as QB AAron Rodgers and WR Greg Jennings as the best QB-WR combo in the league. With newly added reclamation project RB Kevin Smith added to the mix, Detriot has a chance for the upset, provided that they can get a few breaks and keep the pace with GB's league best offence. Look for a high scoring affair in Detroit, with the Lions finally pinning a loss on the best team in the league! Detroit wins!
