Stephane Lafrance wins the Canadian Nationals Feature race at Speedway
Stéphane Lafrance wins the Canadian Nationals Feature race at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Mother Nature finally gave race organizers a break and the first race of the Canadian Nationals was able to be completed with double features completed in all classes.

Cornwall - May. 30, 2011 - Mother Nature finally gave race organizers a break at Cornwall Motor Speedway and the first race of the Canadian Nationals was able to be completed with double features completed in all classes. A total of 317 laps were completed over the night with more than 105 cars in the pit on The Squire Shop Night.

A fine field of 30 of the best northeast 358-modified driver took the initial green in the 100-lap Canadian Nationals Feature race. Stéphane Lafrance took the early lead over Justin Lalancette. Near the end a yellow flag brought the feature over 100 laps with a green white checker finish, Lafrance held off the charges of Mario Clair and took the checkered flag on lap 108 over Clair, Brandon Sweet, Chris Raabe and Justin Lalancette completed the top five.

A field of 27 cars started the 30-lap Modified feature race. David Hébert led the final lap and captured the feature over Pierre Dagenais, Alan Therrien who made a final pass over Chris Raabe and Stéphane Lafrance completed the top five.

The May 22nd Sportsman feature saw Chris Herbison take the early lead over the field of 17 cars. Herbison led from start to finish winning his first feature of the season in front of Jeff Philips and rookie Ronnie Tyo.

Ricky Thompson got a great lead in the second 20-lap Pro-Stock feature race when an accident occurred in the backstretch on lap 3. Thompson led the final laps to win the feature over David Papineau and Joey Ladouceur completed the top 3.

A great field of 22 Pro-Stock started the 20-lap feature race of last week. PJ Peters was the early leader. Joey Ladouceur led the final laps to win the race over PJ Peters and CoreyWheeler completed the podium.

In the last feature of the evening, Alex Gagnon took the lead in the 15-lap Semi-Pro race over Wes Bilmer and Michael McCragar. Kevin Fetterly got a good jump on the last restart and led the final laps to win the feature race over Jonathan Galipeau and Jean-Paul Laberge.

A total of 16 Semi-Pro started the May 22nd, feature race, an accident occurred on the first lap in the front stretch, a great finish to the feature as Joe Woods won over Kevin Fetterly by only a few inches with Kevin McCrae completing the top three.

In the May 29th Mini-Stock finale, Daniel Desnoyers took the lead and had a good battle with Mathieu Renaud, both cars got together outside of turn four and brought the caution giving the lead to Ernie Cree on lap 9. Cree leads the final laps and wins his second feature of the night.

The May 22nd makeup 12-lap Mini-Stock feature started the night and Ernie Cree was the first feature winner of the 2011 season over Mathieu Aubin and Kyle Bouvier.

Another great show next week to start the month of June as the MrDIRTcar Series will make a visit for the Sportsman and Pro-Stock, a lot of invaders will be present for both classes. The Modified, Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock will also be on the schedule on Jiffy Auto Service Night. The first heat is scheduled at 6pm.
