Philips and Ladouceur winners of the MrDIRTcar Series at Cornwall
Another great night of racing at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the MrDIRTcar Series in town for both the Pro-Stock and Sportsman as each categories had a 50-lap feature race. The Modified, Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock had a regular show on Jiffy Auto Services Night.

Cornwall - Jun. 6, 2011 - Another great night of racing at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the MrDIRTcar Series in town for both the Pro-Stock and Sportsman as each categories had a 50-lap feature race. The Modified, Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock had a regular show on Jiffy Auto Services Night.

A field of 30 cars started the 50-lap MrDIRTcar Sportsman Feature race with Randy Earl the early leader with good battles for second as Chris Herbison took the second spot with 2010 series champion Tim Sears Jr in third. Two accidents occurred in the early stages sending Claude Laurin to the pits. Earl managed to stay in front resisting to a third caution as Herbison and Sears were exchanging the second spot. The leaders got into heavy traffic on lap 13, as Wyatt Mullin brought the field together two laps later. At the halfway point, Earl was still in the lead over Sears, Herbison Bernier and Justin Wright completes the top 5. Jeff Philips had a great start on lap 26 taking third spot after starting 18th. A good battle for third as Bernier challenged Philips but the positions stayed the same with 15 laps to go. Earl worked his way through traffic as another caution came out with 41 laps down. On the restart, Philips had a good jump and took second over Sears with Herbison following on the next lap with Sears in fourth as Cole Dingwall was now in fifth with only 5 laps to go. Philips completed the job on lap 47 as he took the lead using the outside lane. Philips led the final laps to win his biggest feature in his young Sportsman career with Earl in second followed by Herbison, Dingwall and Sears.

Ghislain Valade led the way in the 50-lap MrDIRTcar Pro-Stock feature as he took a good lead over Dave Bissonnette and Pete Stefanski in third after 10 laps in the books. Valade lost a left rear wheel in the backstretch and caution came out with a dozen laps down, Bissonnette is now the new leader in front of George Renaud. An accident occurs in the first turn on lap 14. Bissonnette got challenged by Renaud as they raced together for the lead as Joey Ladouceur joined the pack. Ladouceur passed Renaud for second and was now racing for the lead on lap 20. Ladouceur was strong on the top side and took the lead 2 laps later. At the halfway point, Ladouceur was the leader in front of Bissonnette, Renaud, Ricky Thompson and Stefanski. As they reached lap 30, Ladouceur was still in front with changes in the top 5 with Stefanski now second, Thompson third, with Buddy Hencke joining the group in fifth. Thompson spun out and lost several positions with 15 laps to go. On lap 41, a crash involving several cars happened in turn 1 sending a few cars to the pits. While Ladouceur and Stefanski were running in front, a great battle for third between Hencke, Corey Wheeler and Oakes. A final caution occurred on lap 49 sending the race to a green-white-checker finish. Ladouceur led the final laps to win the feature in front of Stefanski, Louie Jackson, Hencke and Wheeler completes the top 5. This feature also counted for the Mohawk Race Parts Series.

In the 30-lap Modified feature, Danny O’Brien was the early leader followed by Jeff Sykes and Brandon Sweet. Four cars got together in turn 2 on lap 9 and this brought the field together as O’Brien is still in front. O’Brien stayed on top with Sykes and Sweet still behind him as Chris Raabe is now fourth. Stéphane Lafrance got the fifth spot on lap 18 and was the fastest car on the track as was now challenging Sweet for third with 10 laps to go. Lafrance got ahead of Sweet with 7 laps to go. O’Brien led the final laps to win his first feature of the season at Cornwall in front of Sykes, Lafrance, Sweet and Chris Raabe rounded out the top 5.

After winning his heat race, Andrew Giroux continued his perfect night by winning the 15-lap Semi-Pro feature after having a good battle with Shawn McMillan in the final moments of the race with Kevin Fetterly completed the podium.

In the 12-lap Mini-Stock feature race, Daniel Desnoyers took the early lead; Ernie Cree made his way through the field and was now running in fourth with 3 laps down. Cree got the lead on a restart on lap 5 with Danny Lefebvre and Ben Nurse in third. Cree alone in front and led the final laps to win his third feature of the season in front of Kyle Bouvier and Desnoyers.
