The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships will be hosted by St. Lawrence College at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club from Oct 3-5, 2011.

Cornwall - Sep. 29, 2011 - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships will be hosted by St. Lawrence College at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club from Oct 3-5, 2011.

Golf teams from 16 Ontario colleges, including 100 golfers, will converge on Cornwall this coming weekend with practice rounds beginning Sunday Oct 2nd followed by championship tournament play Monday through Wednesday.

The actual hosting of the event will be the culmination of preparations that have been ongoing since the St. Lawrence College bid was submitted to the OCAA in November of 2010.

“We are delighted to be hosting this year’s OCAA Golf Championships in Cornwall” stated Tri-campus Athletic Director Brad Greenwood. “The revitalization of our campus has generated lotsof excitement around St. Lawrence College and we are happy to be able to show off our improvements and upgrades to our colleagues from other Ontario Colleges” he continued.

The Cornwall Golf and Country Club has been an instrumental partner in the bid process and is ready to challenge Ontario college golfers.

“The Cornwall Golf and Country Club have been so accommodating and great to deal with throughout the bid and planning stages of the Championships” stated St. Lawrence College Athletics Officer Jacquie Cartwright. “We are very happy to be partnering with a golf course of this calibre and are truly appreciative of the partnership. It is very evident that they are as excited about hosting this great event as we are here at St. Lawrence College.”

The schedule for the OCAA Golf Championships is as follows:

Sun Oct 2
Team arrival and practice rounds

Mon Oct 3
Competition begins at 9am with cross over tee times

Tues Oct 4
Competition begins at 9am with cross over tee times
Championship Banquet at the Ramada Inn and Conference Centre at 7pm

Wed Oct 5
Competition begins at 9am with cross over tee times
Championship awards presented at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club

Qualifiers from the OCAA Golf Championships will then compete at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Golf Championships to be held Oct 18-21 in Charlottetown, PEI.
