Cornwall - Mar. 26, 2012 - The many months of hard work proved worth it as it all came together for the Cornwall Atom Lions at the Eastern Ontario Basketball Association's year end tournament held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier High School in Gloucester, Ontario. The Atom Boys' Lions Basketball team won all three of their games in the round robin tournament making them division 5 champions.
The first game the Cornwall Lions came head to head with the Brockville Blazers. "All team members did an excellent job playing their position and demonstrated their own personal strengths; this was key in the team's success today." Said Paul MacIsaac, parent of one of the players. The final score was Cornwall 42, Brockville 17 with points scored by Braeden Levac (10), Cameron Chisholm (8), Rory Blackadder (8), Jack McLean (6), Ethan MacIsaac (4), Nolan Shane (4), and Alex Dovas (2).
In game two the Lions met tougher competition by facing the Ottawa Shooting Stars. Cornwall had to turn it up a notch by playing tough defence. The Lions' perseverance proved successful as they beat the Shooting Stars by 11 points with a final score of Cornwall 34, Ottawa 23. Points were scored by Braeden Levac (18), Alex Dovas (6), Ezekiel Fontaine (4), Ethan MacIsaac (2), Milan Anderson (2) and Austin Delves (2).
The Lions once again met the Shooting Stars in the final. Point guards Ethan MacIsaac and Braedan Levac played tough defence throughout the game helping their team shut down Ottawa's offence. The game's final score was Cornwall 29, Ottawa 19. Points were scored by Braeden Levac (8), Rory Blackadder (4), Brayden Valiquet (4), Austin Delves (4), Cameron Chisholm (2), Ezekiel Fontaine (2), Nolan Shane (2), Alex Dovas (2), Ethan MacIsaac (1).
