Ingleside - Aug. 10, 2012 - Yesterday, it was revealed that a four team trade was to be made in the NBA, sending former 76ers player Andre Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets, moving former Orlando guard Jason Richardson and former Lakers center Andrew Bynum to the 76ers. The Orlando Magic will be taking players Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington, formally of the Denver Nuggets, as well as Nikola Vuvevic, and Moe Harkless, formally of the Philadelphia 76ers. Josh McRoberts and Christian Eyenga from the Lakers also went to Orlando, who will also receive five draft picks over the course of 5 years.

And of course, the big trade, Dwight Howard has been traded from the Orlando Magic and moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, alongside Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash (who was also recently traded to L.A.). Chris Duhon and Earl Clark were also acquired by L.A. from Orlando. As of today the trade has been confirmed and confirmed by the league.

Now that Orlando has lost a great player, and a fan favorite, I’m sure that Magic fans are disappointed. I myself had felt the same way when Steve Nash was traded to L.A. Being a big Phoenix Suns and Nash fan, I was disappointed to see him go, but knew that Nash didn’t have much of a chance anymore after losing Amar’e Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, and Shaquille O’Neal over the years. This made the move to L.A. a good choice; a choice that gives Nash a much better chance to win the championship.

L.A. was also able to keep Pau Gasol, although many thought that he would be involved in this trade.

Will the upcoming NBA season see L.A. versus the defending champions, the Miami Heat, who recently had NBA veterans Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis added to the team?

Will L.A.’s new big three match Miami’s big three from last year? I personally think that the Lakers will be the team to beat. With Kobe to score, Nash to assist, and Howard to rebound, they’re more than set. While James scores and rebounds, Wade scores, and Bosh scores and rebounds. Miami is a very offensive team, always attacking the basket. I think that L.A. is going to be a better-rounded team than Miami next season, but I guess we’ll all have to wait until then to find out for sure.
