1000 Islands Privateers Drop First Game
The 1000 Islands Privateers lost their first game of the 2011-2012 season tonight against a voracious assault from the Akwasasne Warriors in front of a home crowd of 1221.

Akwesasne - Nov. 13, 2011 - The 1000 Islands Privateers lost their first game of the 2011-2012 season tonight against a voracious assault from the Akwasasne Warriors in front of a home crowd of 1221.

Tyler Fernandez scored the only 1st period goal, unassisted at 6:43.

Akwasasne opened the 2nd period with a trio of goals by Nicolas Corbeil with help from Sylvain Deschatelets and Martin Beaulne at 5:28, then Kris McCarthy from Ahmed Mahfouz and Pierre Dagenais at 6:09, followed by Sylvain Deschatelets (shorthanded) from Martin Beaulne at 8:33.

1000 Islands Michael Richard netted on a powerplay with assists from Justin Levac and Michael Byrd at 14:21 to close the score.

The Privateers opened strong in the 3rd period with goals from Matt Kinnunen with help from Tyler Fernandez and Brian Marks at 0:13, then from Brad Smulders from Tyler Fernandez and Michael Byrd at 3:14. Akwesasne answered with Pierre Dagenais via Hoof and Patrick Deraspe at 4:25, then Addison Pelkey from Miguel Delisle at 5:06 and Sylvain Deschatelets from Martin Beaulne and Jeremy Van Hoof at 14:06.

Justin Levac worked a 6 man goalie pulled assault to net a goal at 19:55 with help from Brad Smulders and Ryan Pearson to haul the Privateers within one with 5 seconds to play. As the time ran out, there was not enough gas in the tank for the win.
