Hafner records second shutout as Colts pound Hawks
Cornwall Colts netminder Lukas Hafner wasn’t as busy as the Hawkesbury goaltenders, but he still came away with a win and a shutout on Thursday night. The Colts beat the Hawkesbury Hawks 5-0 in front of 1,029 fans at the Cornwall Civic Complex.

Cornwall - December 16, 2011 - Cornwall Colts netminder Lukas Hafner wasn’t as busy as the Hawkesbury goaltenders, but he still came away with a win and a shutout on Thursday night. The Colts beat the Hawkesbury Hawks 5-0 in front of 1,029 fans at the Cornwall Civic Complex.

Cornwall outshot Hawkesbury 43-18 in the contetst and came away with a decisive victory. In fact, Hafner was tested on only four shots in the second period and just five in the third.

Tylor Spink, Billy Ulrick, Michael Borkowski, David Rath and Kyle Baun scored for the Colts. The second period was the roughest of the three with a total of 56 minutes in penalties being assessed including a fight between Ulrick and Holden Anderson.

With the win, the Colts improve to 25-8-0-1 and move within two points of first in the Robinson Division. The Colts have one game in hand on the division leading Carleton Place Canadiens. Hawkesbury falls to 18-15-1-3, good for fourth place in the Robinson.

The Colts are in action this weekend at the CCHL Holiday Showcase. Tonight at 7:00 pm they take on the Nepean Raiders and tomorrow at 7:00 pm they face the Ottawa Junior Senators. Following this weekend’s games, the Colts will play a home and home against the Brockville Braves, next Thursday and Friday before the team breaks for Christmas.
