Alexandria Bay - December 28, 2011 - Christmas Comes Two Days Late For Privateers The 1000 Islands Privateers got their Christmas present 2 days late this year as they handily won a river rival battle against the Akwasasne Warriors 7-2. The home crowd of 1432 was witness to a powerful night of FHL Hockey. The win solidified the second place Privateers at 15-4.

While the opening seconds were devoted to fisticuffs, seemingly a release for pre existing frustrations, the pugilists concluded all four rounds and the play commenced. What followed was a hard fought game that saw both clubs traverse the ice in great form. Justin Levac got the lone period score for the Privateers at 10:59 on a powerplay netter with help from Jeff Winchester and Paul Kelly.

The 2nd opened up with Warrior Pierre Dagenais scoring at 1:14 (Sylvain Deschatelets, Carter Trevisani) to even the load. Throughout the remainder of the period, the Privateers stepped on the gas with a flurry of goals: James Brooks at 6:45 (Ryan Pearson, Adam McAllister), Michael Richard at 11:48 (Kelly, Levac) and Richard again at 18:41 (Brad Smulders, Winchester). The 2nd ended with 1000 Islands up by a 4-1 margin.

Privateers' McAllister opened the 3rd with a netter at 4:04 (Pearson, Vinny Geonnetti) to increase the lead, while teammate Pearson collected a goal of his own at 13:32 (McAllister, Kelly). Akwasasne countered at 13:56 as Miguel Delisle found rope (Martin Beaulne, Simon Desormeaux) but it was too little too late as McAllister got his 2nd of the night at 15:52 to cap the performance.

The Privateers again host the Warriors tomorrow evening for the 2nd of the river rival showdown. Fans that bring in their ticket stub from tonight's game get $2 off their ticket for tomorrow night's game. The puck drops at 7:05 at the Bonnie Castle Rec Center in Alex Bay.
