Cornwall - Feb. 17, 2011 - Peggy Haramis is no stranger to giving back to the community.

Growing up in a family of 10 children, Peggy's parents Marion and Nick were always working on some sort of fundraiser. Whether it was raising funds for sports equipment for youths in Maxville or delivering food to those in need, the Haramis family was always willing to do its part.

Given her upbringing, it seems somewhat fitting that Haramis has been named the 2011 Campaign Chair for the United Way of S, D and G.

Haramis came to United Way first as the division chair for the essential services part of the campaign under the direction of Campaign Chair Danny Aikman in 2010. Beyond that, Haramis has also been an active board member for the United Way.

Beyond her involvement with the United Way, Haramis and husband Randy Pitts are involved with their church and sit on several fundraising committees.

The United Way of S, D and G is governed by a local board of directors who, with other volunteers and staff, help to build caring communities and respond to a broad range of human needs. It provides direct financial support to 18 funded agencies.
