McDonell to seek Provincial Conservative Nomination for SDSG

Lancaster - Jan. 15, 2011 - It has recently been announced that current Mayor of South Glengarry Jim McDonell seek the Provincial Progressive Conservative Nomination for Stormont, Dundas & South Glengarry. McDonell entered local politics as a Councillor in Charlottenburgh Township in 1994 and was re-elected in South Glengarry for two additional terms. In 2003, he was elected Mayor and has continued in this position to the present.

In 2006, he was elected Warden of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry.

Ontarians go to the polls on Thursday October 6, 2011. The Liberal Nomination is now wide open with the recent announcement that current MPP Jim Brownell will not be seeking re-election. Earlier this month, former Cornwall Councillor Mark MacDonald announced his intention to seek the Liberal Nomination.
