Parks commission hires new CEO
Darren Dalgleish has been selected as the new general manager and CEO of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, a provincial agency which operates numerous campsites and tourist attractions in eastern Ontario.

Cornwall - Feb. 15, 2011 - A new boss has been selected to head up one of eastern Ontario's largest tourism organizations.

Darren Dalgleish has been selected as the new general manager and CEO of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission. Dalgleish's appointment will take effect on April 4.

Dalgleish's resume includes leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, including Chief Administrative Officer of Gananoque, president of Ifastgroupe Corporation, a company that designs, manufactures, imports and distributes engineered products for many industries, and general manager of Canadian operations with Textron Canada, a global supplier of specialized fasteners and fastening solutions.

As the head of SLPC, Dalgleish will provide leadership and oversee the economic development and renewal of the agency's attractions and facilities.

Dalgleish takes over from Tim Casey, who has been serving as acting general manager and CEO.

SLPC acting chair Ron Eamer said the parks commission is pleased to have Dalgleish on board.

"I am confident that under his guidance and leadership, the commission will continue its significant work to expand the profile of eastern Ontario as a tourism destination of choice," Eamer added.

The SLPC is an Ontario government agency that operates in 16 municipalities stretching from Kingston to the Quebec border. SLPC operates Upper Canada Village, Fort Henry, Crysler Park Marina, Upper Canada Golf Course, Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary and 12 campgrounds and beach day-use areas including the Long Sault and 1000 Islands Parkways.
