Nanos Poll : Harper advantage diminishes in wake of controversies
Nanos Poll : Harper advantage diminishes in wake of controversies. The latest CTV/Globe/Nanos poll has the Harper Conservatives with an 11 point lead nationally over the Ignatieff Liberals.

Cornwall - Mar. 21, 2011 - The latest CTV/Globe/Nanos poll has the Harper Conservatives with an 11 point lead nationally over the Ignatieff Liberals.

In terms of the Nanos Leadership Index, Stephen Harper registered a significant 16 point drop in the past month from 98.9 points to 82.8 points. This is the most dramatic one month drop in the past two years for Harper. He still enjoys a 30 point lead over Layton and Ignatieff, but his advantage on competence and vision have softened in the past month.

Nanos completed the poll fieldwork for this particular national survey prior to the Bruce Carson accusations.

It is still unclear when Canadians will held to the polls for a Federal election. In the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, Conservative incumbent MP Guy Lauzon will seek a fourth term. He will be challenged by Cornwall City Councillor Bernadette Clement, who will run for the Liberals and the NDP will be lead by community activist Mario Leclerc. The Green Party has yet to formally select its candidate.

In the 2008 Federal Election, Lauzon defeated Liberal Denis Sabourin by 17,292.
