Comedy night planned to support Barn apartment fire victims
The Comedy for Charity event will take place on April 2 at the General Vanier auditorium, with proceeds from the event going to support the victims of the Barn apartment fire.

Cornwall - Mar. 26, 2011 - A Cornwall resident is turning to laughter to help those displaced by the March 8 fire at The Barn apartments on Gretchen Court.

Dave Regnier has assembled a cast of comics who will take to the General Vanier auditorium stage on April 2 for Comedy for Charity. Tickets are $15, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the victims of the fire, many of whom didn’t have insurance.

For Regnier, the cause is a personal one as he lived in the building himself.

"It’s very devastating," Regnier said of the fire, which was one of the biggest residential blazes in Cornwall in recent history.

Regnier said he isn’t taking anything from the night himself, and he wants to see the proceeds go to helping his neighbours.

Regnier is organizing the event through his new charity foundation, Comics against Bullying. The organization has a goal of putting an end to bullying through “awareness, education and laughter.”

Regnier will serve as the MC for the event, and the list of comics includes Josh Williams, Skip Phillips, Erica Scott, Chelsea O’Connor, Ed Gougeon and Brad Sproule.

For tickets, call 613-360-9003 or email info@comicsagainstbullying.com.
