Cornwall - Apr. 5, 2011 - The local federal election candidates will square off on the issues during the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce All Candidates Debate on April 21.

A popular event in every election cycle, the chamber debate will see incumbent Guy Lauzon (Conservative) and challengers Bernadette Clement (Liberal), Mario Leclerc (NDP) and Wyatt Walsh (Green) answering questions on a variety of different issues.

“There are a number of ongoing issues that need to be addressed,” said chamber President Rick Shaver in a press release.

“There is the international crossing that remains to be dealt with and more broadly, there has been the continuing debate about corporate taxes and the government itself.”

The debate will begin at 7 p.m. with a moderator posing questions to each of the candidates followed by a scrum. Members of the audience will also have a chance to ask questions of each of the candidates.

"It is imperative that our community exercise its right to vote and I urge everyone to attend the debate and then go to the polls," added Shaver.

The debate is being hosted in partnership with TVCOGECO and TheCornwalldaily.com, and it will be broadcast live on both platforms.
