Cornwall - Apr. 13, 2011 - Cornwall will play host to the Zone 6 Quarterly Meeting of the Municipal Retiree’s Organization of Ontario (MROO) later this month.

Over 75 people are expected to attend the meeting on April 26 at the Ramada Inn and Conference Centre.

Seminars include a presentation by an OMERS Board representative, health insurance and social networking.

“We already have 75 registered attendees, and we are hoping that number will increase in the next couple of weeks,” said Carol Myles, Zone 6 Director with the MROO.

“The meetings are often held in Ottawa, and there has been a lot of interest in visiting Cornwall.”

The meeting is open to MROO members only. Membership is $25 for a lifetime membership. To qualify, retirees must be in receipt of a full or partial OMERS pension.

“It is a pleasure to introduce Cornwall to MROO members”, said Mayor Bob Kilger.

“I hope that retired municipal employees who live throughout eastern Ontario consider attending the meeting.”

MROO is a provincially chartered not-for-profit organization that seeks to have an informed and active influence in addressing the issues that affect the welfare and way of life of municipal, police, school board and fire department retirees. The organization has 15,000 members.
