Severe Thunderstorm watch issued for Cornwall

Enviroment Canada has issued a couple of watches and warnings for the Cornwall area. Weather conditions near the Ottawa Valley are favourable for severe thunderstorms this afternoon through early this evening. The main threat is heavy downpours. A line of intense thunderstorms over Michigan is moving eastward and may reach Southwestern Ontario early this afternoon.

Cornwall - Jul. 11, 2011 - Enviroment Canada has issued a couple of watches and warnings for the Cornwall area.

Weather conditions near the Ottawa Valley are favourable for severe thunderstorms this afternoon through early this evening. The main threat is heavy downpours. A line of intense thunderstorms over Michigan is moving eastward and may reach Southwestern Ontario early this afternoon. The main threat with these thunderstorms is damaging winds. Hail, heavy downpours, and intense lightning are also possible.

There is also a strong wind warning in effect as well as a squall watch in effect.

Wind southwest 15 to 25 knots with gusts to 35 near thunderstorms. Wind becoming south 10 to 15 this evening then diminishing to light before morning. Wind becoming westerly 15 Tuesday afternoon.
