OPP make a number of impaired driving charges over weekend
The following is an official media release and/or announcement from the Cornwall Police Service: On 06 Aug 11, at approximately 1:00am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 17, South Glengarry Township. The stop revealed that the 22yr old male driver (James MYERS of South Glengarry) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Long Sault - Aug. 8, 2011 - The following is an official media release and/or announcement from the Cornwall Police Service:

CHARGES LAID
(South Glengarry) - On 06 Aug 11, at approximately 1:00am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 17, South Glengarry Township.

The stop revealed that the 22yr old male driver (James MYERS of South Glengarry) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed that the male also had approximately 22grams of suspected marihuana in his possession.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

- Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle
- Exceed 80mgs / Motor Vehicle
- Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana

He is scheduled to appear 16 Aug 11 in Cornwall court.

(North Dundas) â€" On 05 Aug 11, at approximately 4:00pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a male consuming alcohol near Main St. Chesterville On.

When officers approached the male he became aggressive and assaulted police.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

- Assault with intent to resist arrest
- Assault Peace Officer or Cause Bodily Harm
- Cause Disturbance


The 50yr old male was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

(South Dundas) â€" On 05 Aug 11, at approximately 10:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an assault on Westwinds Drive, Morrisburg On.

The investigation revealed that a 15yr old female had assaulted a female worker at the residence.

She was arrested and faces charges of:

- Failure to comply with Sentence or Disposition
- Assault

She was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

(South Glengarry) â€" On 06 Aug 11, at approximately 8:00pm, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township.

The stop revealed that the 53yr old male driver (from Notre Dame De Lile Perrot, QC) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

- Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle
- Exceed 80mgs / Motor Vehicle
- Dangerous Operation â€" motor vehicle
- Possession Schedule I â€" Cocaine

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

DOMESTIC INCIDENT
(South Stormont) â€" On 05 Aug 11, at approximately 1:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on County Road 12, South Stormont Township.

The investigation revealed that a female and her 34yr old common-law husband were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in the male assaulting the female.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

- Assault
- Mischief â€" Domestic
- Overcoming Resistance to Commit Indictable Offence

He is scheduled to appear 30 Aug 11 in Cornwall court.
