Cornwall man charged with fraud after receiving two government cheques
The following is an official media release and/or announcement from the Cornwall Police Service: Geoffrey Jarvo, 37 of Cornwall was arrested on the 23rd of August, 2011. It is alleged that on the 8th of July 2011 he reported that he did not receive a government cheque and issued a replacement cheque.

Cornwall - Aug. 25, 2011 - The following is an official media release and/or announcement from the Cornwall Police Service:

BREAK & ENTER
Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a break and enter which occurred between the 22nd of August, 2011 at a Birmingham Street residence. The suspect(s) gained entry to an unlocked window and proceeded to steal a red Toshiba laptop and a silver Samsung digital camera. If you have any information regarding this break and enter, please contact the Service at 613-932-2110 or Crime Stoppers at 613-937-8477.

FRAUD UNDER
Cornwall, ON- Geoffrey Jarvo, 37 of Cornwall was arrested on the 23rd of August, 2011. It is alleged that on the 8th of July 2011 he reported that he did not receive a government cheque and was issued a replacement cheque. On the 13th of July 2011 he cashed the cheque at a local establishment however the cheque was later refused due to payment stoppage. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Fraud Under $5000.00 and released to appear in court on the 8th of September, 2011 to answer to the charge.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF & THREATS
Cornwall, ON- A 49 year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 23rd of August, 2011. He was bound by a Probation Order with the relevant conditions of abstain from the purchase, possession and consumption of alcohol of alcohol or other intoxicating substances. He was also bound by a second Probation Order with the conditions keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to abstain from the purchase, possession or consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating substances. It is alleged that on the 23th of August, 2011 he entered into an altercation with his 48 year-old common-law wife when he damaged property and uttered a threat to cause death. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Domestic Mischief, Utter Threat to Cause Death and three counts of Breach of Probation Order. He was held in custody until court the following day. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in this incident.
