Mountain - Sep. 8, 2011 - The All Things Food SDG Community Food Network encourages all SDG schools to raise awareness about sustainable food systems this fall by participating in the Second Annual Province-Wide Eat-In Ontario on September 30th, 2011.

Eat-In Ontario is an initiative to get students active in their own learning about where their food comes from, and how to grow, cook and enjoy nutritious food as part of a healthy lifestyle - transforming classrooms, school yards, and appetites Ontario-wide!

SDG schools can participate by facilitating curriculum-linked food literacy activities with students on September 30th. Free 25 minute Eat-In Ontario workshop outlines for K-12 classes are available to download from Foodshare Toronto’s website (www.foodsharetoronto.net). Schools can also host activities like food tastings or film showings, or even whole-day food festivals!

All SDG classes who participate in Eat-In Ontario are eligible to win a "food literacy" package from All Things Food. The package will include fun items to engage in learning about sustainable food systems such as films, books, and games. Simply email info@allthingsfoodbouffe360.ca with a short paragraph on what your class did for Eat-In Ontario, and include photos if possible. The winning class will be notified by the end of October 2011.
