St. Albert man charged with theft of election signs
The following is an official media release and/or announcement from the Cornwall Police Service: On September 14th, at approximately 7:15pm, SD&G OPP officers were dispatched to a theft of numerous election signs on County Road 43 near Finch, North Stormont Township.

Long Sault - Sep. 17, 2011 - The following is an official media release and/or announcement from the Cornwall Police Service:

Theft Charges Laid
(North Stormont, On.) - On September 14th, at approximately 7:15pm, SD&G OPP officers were dispatched to a theft of numerous election signs on County Road 43 near Finch, North Stormont Township. Officers located and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle but the pick up truck failed to stop for police. A short time later, officers located the truck in Crysler and the driver fled on foot. A search of the area turned up negative however the male suspect later turned himself into police.

The driver Philip Shank, (37, from St. Albert) was arrested and faces charges of;

  • Flight from police

  • Dangerous Operation- motor vehicle

  • Theft under $5000.00

  • Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5000.00

    Shank was released on a Promise to Appear in Cornwall Criminal Court on October 11, 2011 to answer to the charges.

    ASSAULT
    (South Glengarry, On.)- On September 15th, at approximately 2:10am, SD&G officers were dispatched to the report of a domestic incident on County Road 18 in South Glengarry Township.

    The investigation revealed that a male and female had been cohabitating together for the last 7 months. The male and female engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation.

    As a result, the 32 year old male (from North Lancaster) was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Assault

    The male was released on a Promise to Appear in Cornwall Criminal Court on October 18, 2011 to answer to the charges.
