Today is Election Day! Exercise your democratic right!
Today is election day in Ontario and in the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. Provincial polls are suggesting that this will be a very tight election and might very well be a minority government. Clearly, each vote today could make a difference. Please get out and support the candidate or party of your choice.

Cornwall - Oct. 6, 2011 - Today is election day in Ontario and in the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.

In the 2007 Provincial election, our riding saw 38,438 votes cast or a 51.8%voter turnout. In 2003, 38,554 votes were cast or 56.0% turnout.

Elections Ontario is reporting that the voter turnout at the advance polls was very brisk in our riding. Let's hope that translates into a high voter turnout again today. However, the parties often encourage their campaign workers and key supporters to get out and vote at the advance polls. It would be great to see the voter turnout in SDSG in excess of 45,000 votes cast.

There are numerous voting locations across the riding. Also, if you have not received your voter card you are still eligible to vote today. If you have any questions, you can review the WeMakeVotingEasy.ca website. Polls are open today from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

In the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, we have five candidates. Truck Driver Darcy Neal Donnelly (Libertarian), Cornwall City Councillor Elaine MacDonald (NDP), Former City Councillor Mark MacDonald (Liberal), South Glengarry Mayor Jim McDonell (PC) and student Justin Reist (Green) are all hoping to earn the right to represent this riding at Queen’s Park.

In the 2007 Provincial Election, Jim Brownell (Liberal) defeated Chris Savard (PC) by 3,866 votes. Provincial polls are suggesting that this will be a very tight election and might very well be a minority government. Clearly, each vote today could make a difference. Please get out and support the candidate or party of your choice.
