Winchester - November 28, 2011 - Winchester District Memorial Hospital got into the festive spirit this weekend, participating in three local area parades in Embrun, Russell and Casselman. The WDMH float will also be part of the Morrisburg and Winchester parades next weekend.

“The WDMH team is honoured to be participating in several parades this year and we hope our float, complete with a ‘Gingerman health care provider’, will bring a smile to everyone,” notes Sylvie Forgues-Martel, WDMH’s Chief Liaison Officer, Office of Medical and Academic Affairs and organizer of this year’s parade float.

"It's great to be part of the festivities in our local communities," added Cholly Boland, CEO. “At Winchester District Memorial Hospital, we are creating a Centre of Excellence for Rural Health and Education that brings care, education and research together to support local families throughout their lives. It’s care close to home.”

Special thanks to everyone who helped with the design and construction of this year’s float, including the following local services:

  • Richard Martel Construction and Renovation who donated time and material to build the float

  • Carnage Paintball of Embrun who provided the float, Christmas lights and decorations

  • Ken Boje of BMR Winchester who donated the paint and brushes and will provide the truck for the Winchester and Morrisburg parades

  • Paul Martel of BMR Embrun who loaned his truck to tow the float at the Embrun, Russell and Casselman parades

  • Lucien Bazinet Welding of St-Albert who loaned the special ring hitch for BMR truck to pull the float
