Cornwall - April 4, 2012 - Brian Lynch, President of the Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Provincial NDP riding association, has announced that the local NDP riding association will be holding this year's Tommy Douglas fundraiser dinner on Friday April 27 at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club, County Rd. 2, East, Cornwall. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.

Lynch stated: "We are very pleased that Peter Tabuns, M.P.P. for Toronto-Danforth and the Ontario NDP education and energy critic, will be the guest speaker at the Tommy Douglas dinner".

Before being elected to Queen's Park in a by-election in March 2006, Tabuns served as a city councillor in Toronto from 1990-97, as executive director of Greenpeace Canada from 1999 to 2004, and as a special advisor on climate change to Jack Layton from 2004 to 2005. Lynch said: "Since being elected to Queen's Park, Peter has brought new initiatives to create good jobs while fighting climate change and to keep people safe from toxins".

Lynch further explained: "This will be an excellent opportunity for local residents to learn more about NDP policies and initiatives to create jobs in the new energy economy, to improve public healthcare and education, and to make life affordable for everyday people. The Ontario NDP and leader Andrea Horwath are working to make the minority Government at Queen's Park work for everyday Ontarians".

Everyone is invited to attend the Tommy Douglas dinner.

Tickets for the Tommy Douglas dinner are available by calling Brian Lynch at 613-933-8353 .
