Finanlists announced for Tri-Valley conservation awards
The finalists have been determined, and a new slate of conservation champions are about to be honoured at the 2011 Tri-Valley Conservation Awards Gala, to be held at Rideau Valley Conservation in Manotick on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.

Finch - April 5, 2012 - The finalists have been determined, and a new slate of conservation champions are about to be honoured at the 2011 Tri-Valley Conservation Awards Gala, to be held at Rideau Valley Conservation in Manotick on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.

The annual awards evening, a collaborative effort of the South Nation, Rideau Valley, and Mississippi Valley Conservation Authorities, is designed to recognize outstanding contributions to conservation and environmental health in the three watersheds.

This year, finalists have been involved in projects that include tree planting, water quality protection, shoreline stewardship, conservation education and advocacy, natural beautification and other activities contributing to the health of the watersheds.

Winners in each category will be announced at the Gala. This year’s finalists are:

Lifetime Achievement Awards

While most winners won’t be revealed until the evening of the awards, recipients of the new Lifetime Achievement Award in each watershed have been announced. In the South Nation watershed, Berwick’s Floyd Dingwall will be honoured for his contribution to conservation through South Nation Conservation and municipal politics, and especially for his work in developing McIntosh Park in Berwick.

The Awards Gala will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m., to be followed by the presentation of awards beginning at 7 p.m.

The Tri-Valley area covers the watersheds of the South Nation, Mississippi and Rideau Rivers. This 12,000 square km area - stretching from Bon Echo Park in the west to Plantagenet in the east, is home to over 700,000 people who benefit from the voluntary environmental leadership of local businesses, communities, schools and families who work to sustain the health of our watersheds.
