Cornwall - May 1, 2012 - Mikaela Amber Beaudette is 15 years old, a student at Holy Trinity, and she plays rugby and participates in dance. She was born in Cornwall Ontario where she grew up her entire life. Beaudette, who has some modelling experience, has become a participant at a national pageant! Beaudette has been accepted to compete at the National Level in the Miss Canada Globe Pageants 2012. As a National Finalist, Beaudette will be representing her community, for a chance to win the title of Miss Teen Canada Globe 2012. During her journey, Beaudette will be doing appearances in different special events and charity fundraisers, throughout her community. Beaudette is scheduled to compete for the National Title of Miss Teen Canada Globe 2012, this August 2012 in Toronto Ontario. Beaudette will be fund-raising money to pay for the expenses during the week of the pageant, and any extra money raised will be donated to CHEO! Here is Jason Setnyk's interview with Miss Teen Canada contestant Mikaela Amber Beaudette.

Have you participated in pageants before? What got you interested in participating in these events?

Mikaela Beaudette: I have not participated in any other pageants before, but I did do some modelling for Profile Modelling and auditioned for a commercial. The reason I wanted to go into this pageant was because I saw it as a good opportunity for scholarships, to meet and experience new people and this pageant is very community and charity oriented and that interested me. I would like to gain new experiences, meet new people and help the community by competing in this pageant.

What does representing Cornwall Ontario at the Miss Teen Canada pageant mean to you?

Mikaela Beaudette: I believe Cornwall is a great place to live and it has a lot of positives. For instance; we are a small community but we still have great schools that provide a fantastic education. Our housing costs are less expensive than in a bigger city, we are equally involved in sports and the arts and we have a lot to offer in terms of the St. Lawrence river is close by and we have great camping and boating activities. All of this makes me proud to represent Cornwall.

What kind of training and preparation is required?

Mikaela Beaudette: The training will be held the week before the pageant and they will teach us how to present ourselves, walk properly, choreographers will be teaching us dances and makeup specialist will be guiding us on our hair and makeup. They will also be teaching us how to speak in public settings and we will be attending charity events and helping out.

What do you want the judges of the pageant to see in you? What sets you apart from the other contestants?

Mikaela Beaudette: I hope the judges see me as an intelligent, fun loving and outgoing girl who doesn't take herself too seriously and that I like to laugh and make the best of any situation. I hope they see that I am in this to be a good role model and spokesperson for Cornwall and Canada.

Tell us about why you are fund-raising?

Mikaela Beaudette: The fund-raising goal is for each delegate to raise $3,000 for her expenses during the week of the pageant, but I would also like to go further and raise more so I can donate most of it to CHEO. I would also like to let people know that I would love to use this opportunity to participate in various functions in the city and help them with their causes as well. I'm going to ask for sponsorships and pledges and we're also thinking about a draw for a large basket of goodies and we're trying to come up with other ideas, like perhaps a car wash, large community garage sale, Krispy Kreme donuts and things like that. I am going to talk to businesses and see if they can help out with donations for the basket and I am hoping I can raise a lot more than the required $3,000 so I can donate a lot to CHEO.

If you would like to sponsor and help Beaudette with this goal, send an email to: dbeaudette@cogeco.ca
