Burton Cummings to Headline Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2012

As unveiled at Au Vieux Duluth on Friday evening, Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off is pleased to announce their 2012 Festival entertainment lineup. Taking the Corus Entertainment Stage this year our headline act will feature Burton Cummings. As the voice of a generation from his days as the as the legendary singer of The Guess Who, to his incredible solo career, fans will hear the songs they love directly from the man who created them. The Tallman Truck Centre Entertainment Circle will also feature:

The newly reunited Big Wreck who are touring in support of their new studio album “Albatross”.

One of Canada’s hottest new acts is also on tour supporting their new studio album “Ever After” and Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off is pleased to welcome MARIANAS TRENCH to Cornwall.

Juno award winner SLOAN will also take the Corus Entertainment Stage, performing twenty years’ worth of hits spanning their first ten albums.

Continuing to shine as a solo artist after being the last woman standing on Rockstar: INXS; Suzie McNeil will be taking the stage featuring songs from her 4th studio album “Dear Love”.

Rounding out our headline acts will be Juno nominated The New Cities, who are following up their nomination for Best New Group or Solo Artist of the Year (CHR) 2010, by sizzling up the charts with their new single ”Heatwave”.

Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off is also proud to be able to showcase some of the awesome local talent that can be found in our great city! This year’s local opening acts will include Playing with Diana, Arcaine Belief, The Shiners, Switchgear, Tyler Kealey and Elly May. The Board of Directors would like to thank all of the local acts that applied to perform at this year’s festival. Unfortunately we only have space for a small portion of the acts that applied and encourage any unsuccessful applicants to please try again next year.

In addition to the musical acts, Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off will also feature the ever popular Midway from Homeniuk Rides, the Children’s Fun Zone, licenses beverage garden, food and beverage vendors and of course the majestic sight of dozens of hot air balloons filling the skies above Cornwall and the United Counties.

Exiting new additions in the park this year will include the Dynamic Closures $50,000 Hot Air Give Away, a Classic Car Show and even a re-enactment a battle of the War of 1812.

Cornwall Lift-Off was founded in 1994 and has since hosted back-to-back Canadian National Hot Air Balloon Championships in 1996 and 1997. The success of the festival has grown considerably from its modest beginnings in 1994. Each year, the festival welcomes approximately 25 hot-air balloon teams, the Homenuik Rides carnival, a spectacular fireworks display, Family Zone, and great local and international musical entertainment. Past entertainers have included Dennis DeYoung of Styx, Tom Cochrane, Colin James, Amanda Marshall, Theory of a Deadman, Finger Eleven, Loverboy, Trooper, Kim Mitchell, April Wine, Our Lady Peace and Chantal Kreviazuk.
