The year in Alberta
Twas the year in Alberta, the first in my life

The politics there were infected with Libs
So I welcomed the chance to be clear of the fibs

Calgary - January 11, 2013 - Twas the year in Alberta, the first in my life
I moved from Ontario, with my cats and my wife
The politics there were infected with Libs
So I welcomed the chance to be clear of the fibs

For years with McGuinty we got deficits and waste
I thought smart Albertans would dispatch him with haste
There's no way they'd accept a schemer and liar
But Alberta it seems had a new Premier to hire

Her name is Redford, she calls herself Tory
But she's got none of smarts of conservative glory
She got her new job by bribing some teachers
It's what you'd expect from a liberal or leacher

I got here thinking how conservative it would be
But instead I got Redford and the bloody PC's
They told us they'd be careful with all of our money
But their budget projections were awful and stunning

A billion is what they said they'd be over
But that's not what I've witnessed from my new house in Dover
It's going to be higher, 6 billion or more
Only 8 years since King Ralph had settled the score

The deficit rises in a province of oil
It rose and it rose despite the citizens toil
Health care has caused troubles and plenty chest thumping
Instead we get talks about stupid queue jumping

Alison takes grief about ex husbands and smokes
She talks like a lawyer and treats us like dopes
Her majority is solid and can't be opposed
Despite Liberals and dippers and the feisty Wildrose

So what should I think as I start my year two
In this province I love, oh what should I do
I can't stand the left and I know that I'm right
The election is far off and nowhere in sight

So I'll keep my eyes peeled for mistakes by the Premier
And hope Danielle and Wildrose can make it quite clear
If the PC's ruin this province for all
We'll been screaming for heads and jobs by the fall

So watch out for Redford who promises stuff
I've dealt with this back east and I've had enough
In McGuinty's Ontario I always felt lonely
In Ali's Alberta they're Conservative in name only
