Predators forward Fisher to miss 4-6 months
The Nashville Predators will be without forward Mike Fisher for the next 4-6 months due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, the team announced Monday. Fisher, 33, was fourth on the Predators in scoring with 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists) last season with a minus-4 rating while averaging 19:45 minutes of ice time.

Nashville - July 8, 2014 - The Nashville Predators will be without forward Mike Fisher for the next 4-6 months due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, the team announced Monday.

"Predators forward and alternate captain Mike Fisher sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon during a training session and underwent successful surgery on Thursday, July 3," general manager David Poile said in a statement. "We expect Mike to make a full recovery in four-to-six months, and look forward to his return to the ice."

Fisher, 33, was fourth on the Predators in scoring with 49 points (20 goals, 29 assists) last season with a minus-4 rating while averaging 19:45 minutes of ice time.

"I hope we have enough depth," Poile said in the Tennessean. "We will give certain guys a chance to be successful and give Mike a chance to get back."

Nashville recently signed free-agent center Olli Jokinen, but Fisher's absence could hurt in a Western Conference where several top teams are stacked down the middle. Poile said the Predators may look to Calle Jarnkrok, Colin Wilson or Colton Sissons to step up at the start of the season.

"We're not going to sign a player for the sake of signing," Poile said. "It has to be a fit."
