Wilkes-Barre Scranton - October 1, 2013 - In their final game of the per-season , the WBS Penguins came out and took the Hershey Bears 2-1 at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. It was a decent pre-season crowd not huge but decent on hand tonight to watch the hometown Penguins take on their arch rival Bears, in a text I received just as the game got going a buddy of mine said how bout them Bears, busting me about the win the night prior. To which I responded ____me lol, we are just getting started here in WBS.

Tonight’s game got started on a bad note as the Penguins were on the PK first, not something you want to see versus a Hershey squad none the less , but the WBS penalty kill was dead on keeping the Bears occupied and the puck out of the net.

Second power play of the game went to the Pens giving them a chance to get things started, just as the power play winds up to speed the Bears get called for a slash putting them down yet another man creating a 5 on 3 situation for the Penguins. Score one for WBS thank you very much Hershey Nick Drazenovic gets the tally putting the Penguins ahead by one, the rest of the man advantage would expire.

Thompson would leave the ice bleeding from what we found out he took a skate to the forehead cutting him rather good he went directly to the dressing room for some medical attention but, returned to the ice later in the game.

Hershey would score in the second period it was a tip in goal more like a trickle in goal by the Bears but it made it one to one. Later in the game Philip Samuelsson would get the go ahead goal for the Pens on a wrap around, more like a skate by reverse motion wrap around, nice move by the way.

Thats where it would stay for the rest of the game Pens beating the Bears 2-1 in regulation. Hartzell looked stellar in net tonight some great saves from rouotine catches to point blank robs he stood his ground, was waiting to see if there was going to be a substitution nearing the midway point of the game but nothing doing he remained in net the entire game.

On a related note I just want to take a moment to thank all of our readers for coming out and showing your colors. PensFans4Ever has been voted by you our readers to be NEPA’s Blog Of The Year in the Sports/Fitness category. We just want to say Thank You for giving us this honor.
